Re: the XP nerf with 6.0 -- I wasn't able to find a solid answer for this when I was looking, I wanted to provide a data point on the time to level through Pandaria. This was on a shadow priest with only questing (no dungeon queues) -- I quested through most of the Jade Forest for 85 to dinging 88, then Kunlai for 88 to dinging 89, and then Dread Wastes for 89-90.

1) XP required to level no longer has the massive jump between levels. I don't remember the exact numbers, but if 84-85 is 450k xp, 85-86 is now 470k or so instead of the 3-4m or whatever it was pre-patch.

2) Approx 1.5 hours per level through MoP, taking my time as a miner/herbalist to stop at every gold dot. Based on the last character I leveled pre-XP nerf, I would say it's a time reduction of ~50% at 85-86 and 60-65% at 89-90. It might even be more than that because I believe the last few characters I had were ~4 hours to go 89-90, but I never played them if they weren't rested.

3) XP per kill in Pandaria zones seemed a bit lower to me than it was in Cataclysm Zones (Deepholm was where I moved to MoP zones). I didn't try this, but I'm wondering if it might be faster to level 85-90 in the high-level Cata zones instead of MoP.

4) Within 2 hours of hitting 90, was at avg ilvl of 504. This was by doing the WoD quests in the Blasted Lands, the regular heirloom staff I had from Garrosh, and clearing all the timeless isle chests I could find. Last piece needing an upgrade is gloves, of which I'm still using ilvl 437 quest reward.

Someone said queues are back on Zul'jin now ... on a Sunday night. Hopefully they're not too bad the next couple nights, I want to try and get my mining/herbalism leveled the rest of the way (300 mining / 375 herb right now).

anyone else run ElvUI know if you can get the enhanced character frame back? it used to show gems and enchants without having to mouse over your gear. when I reinstalled that is gone, and I don't remember doing anything special to get it to show before

Emerald Dream always teetered on the edge of Q times around patches. They never got above a couple minutes and it went away within a few weeks.

Even before the latest xp nerf, I'd usually hit 90 about the same time I finished the valley (except for the quest lines that open after doing the zone below it).

Too bad my hunter is only 70, would like to get the heirloom bow for him.

I think that was an OQueue "feature". At least it was for me.

My daughter has a hunter alt, and with my rogue both starting at 85 yesterday we got to 90 in one afternoon. Probably just over an hour per level. We didn't even make it out of Jade Forest before hitting 90. Did a handful of dungeons via LFD. The health on all Pandaria mobs is so low now you just slice right through them. We didn't even bother to replace most of our heirloom gear until we were 88 or 89, and some of them were even the level 80 heirlooms.

Yup with stat squish you can basically use most of your old gear until 90 and even some past then.

My DS gear was better than timeless isle gear because of gems and socket bonuses.

Didn't think about that, that would be a good change. Had to buy the green vendor gear on some chars cause the spike in panda land npc stats from the quest greens of cata really slowed down your progress and was an insta gib if you pulled a pack.

Yup. Still using my DS gear on my 90 Shaman even though I have some SoO raid finder gear. The stat bonus and gems beat it out in DPS/heal. Only part that gets tricky is the stam.

Also since the stat squish, there is no difference between RF DS gear and Heroic DS gear.

Doesn't matter anyways. WoD is out in a few days and all of that goes out the window lol.

Yeah I'm sure it would go faster with LFD (I went 15-80 on that character, never left Ogrimmar after LFD was available) but because this was a new server reroll, I needed to quest to get some gold for flying. I had something like 600g at level 80 with only the slow flying. By 90 I was able to get the 280% flying (4250g I think), but I didn't have enough for the 2500g Pandarian flying. Got that late last night, now I'm working on another 4250g for the 310%.

I wish gold was BoA also ... I have ~300k sitting on servers I don't play on anymore. Don't really feel like paying any more money for server transfers.

Can't you send mail cross server now?
I've sent a couple of things, though i think they were only heirlooms and account bound items

So is the boost to 90 good forever or does it need to be used before WoD launches?

Forever is a strong word, but as far as I know it's in place for all new accounts for the foreseeable future. Blizzard wants new players to be able to jump right into WoD without having to grind their way up.

Huh? Explain.

Usually Blizzard does not want people to be able to send money across servers cause it messes up the economy.

Pets are account-wide now. They are cross-server and cross-faction accessible.

You want to transfer 300k unused gold from server A, to server B where your active toons are ?

Get one of your characters on server A to the Auction House. Look at the pets that are for sale. There are two types of pets: 1) fresh unused items that will teach you a pet, 2) battle-pets that are cages. Type 1 is on the AH under "Miscellaneous->Companion Pets". Type 2 is under "Battle Pets". Look at the expensive pets.

Find pets that are cheaper or similar price on server A than on server B. E.g. pets that drop in Throne of Thunder are usually pretty expensive, and have reasonable stable prices. E.g. a Son of Animus usually goes for around 10k gold. I've seen them for 5-6k at times, but usually they are more expensive. Suppose prices on both server A and server B for a Son of Animus are around 10k.

Buy a Son of Animus on server A.
Click on the item to learn the pet.
Open your mount/pet/toy window. Click the pet tab. Check that Son of Animus is there.

Now log onto a character on server B.
Go to the AH.
Open your pet window. Find the Son of Animus.
Left-click the Son of Animus in the pet window. A menu will pop up.
Select "put in cage".
You now have an item in your bags that is a caged Son of Animus.
Sell the Son of Animus on the AH. Suggested price 10k/10k. Or you can try a higher price.
Be patient. It might take a few days, even a week or two until your pet sells.
You have now succesfully transfered 10k gold from server A to server B.

This is not illegal. Everything is according to the rules and game mechanics. It just takes a little time sometimes. And you hope someone will buy your transferred pet for your intended price. I've done of lot of cross-realm raiding in a fixed pug via OpenRaid.org. 8/14 heroic SoO 25-man. The raidleader, who invested an awful lot of her time to give other people the opportunity to raid (flex, normal and heroic), once mentioned she had no gold to craft 553-gear for a new character. So I gave her some gold. I sold 3 pets on her server, and mailed her 16k gold.
I also done a bit of pet selling cross-faction on my own server. Because the Alliance AH had much lower prices. Sold some pets for a reasonable price, and used that gold to buy alliance-specific pets on the AH. Saved me a few (ten) thousands gold, I think. This is not necessary anymore, because since 6.0.2 AH on every server is shared between Alliance and Horde on that server.

You can also look for the pets that come from TCG (some card game ?). Those are usually a lot more expensive. 10k-100k gold per pet. Selling those will allow you to transfer your 300k much quicker. But also the risk of having a bad buy is much larger. In any case, you will always transfer some gold, which might be better that having no access to that gold.

Don't "just do this" on an afternoon. You should check out AH prices on both servers first. Do this once a day, for a few days in a row. Maybe write down prices of the most expensive pets. After a week you should have a good idea what you can do with the lowest risk. Also, check wowhead.com to see if pets of type-1 are cageable. Or even better, check on warcraftpets.com. Most pets that are not BoP are cageable, but you better check first. Pets that are type-2 are caged already, so with those you know 100% sure that you can resell them.

Hope this helps.

can't believe Mists is coming to an end... I miss real raiding, but I'm glad I at least got to see all the tiers via LFR.

never did finish my legendary quest, though. the solo instance really stumped me. I never managed to successfully heal through it, and never had the time to gear up to over-gear it.

tbh, I've reached the point where I probably wouldn't even play WoD if I hadn't already preordered it, but we'll see where it takes me! debating if I want to continue on with my shaman (ele/resto) or maybe switch to my death knight even though I hate tanking.

FFXIV has spoiled me, though. after healing in teams of 4-8, health bars for a 25-man raid stress me out.

If it is in line with all of the other expansions, 88.

Cat and Mists were 80 and 85 respectively, weren't they?

Current level -2 has always been the needed amount. You could enter BC at 58, but most struggled at -2. Generally the new beefier gear was worth the extra pain and after you replaced most of your junk gear with the new stuff it wasn't so bad. The first of those -2 levels was hard, second was easy.

At least that's how it was in the past.
