at wits end

built a htpc last year and have been having an issue for some time now.

at first, the integrated v card seemed to be working fine, not for gaming of course, but I didnt have the issues I am now.

I boot up the pc and switch to the input on the tv, works fine, sorta.

#1 cant get 1920 x1080 without it overscanning, bigtime. Could do that with integrated no problem.

#2 When I change inputs and comeback to the pc, the tv just sits there and says input 7 as if there's no signal getting to it. the pc hasn't fallen asleep as i have tried it by "going around and back" to that input.

There again it seems as that wasn't an issue with the integrated card.

I have no clue what to do and am very frustrated. tried stock drivers, tried catalyst, still the same result

specs: amd 4200 x2, 2 gig ram, x800xl, ECS AMD690GM-M2 AM2 AMD 690G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard, happens with xp pro and vista.

HELP!!!!!!!

I would try enabling PCI-E as your primary graphics source. When I had my HTPC (with an x800GT), leaving it at auto would allow me to boot up, but god forbid anything got bumped, I would lose my signal.

What inputs are you using?

I had overscanning on my tv (Samsung 4665F 1080P LCD) with my 8800GTS in Windows XP. When I switched to Vista it was fine. No idea why (drivers maybe?). I don't use it at as HTPC I was just messing around. Make sure you have the latest drivers is all I can guess.
