I have a feeling, that 1 year, 4 months and 14 days from now, you will have a brilliant solution to this crisis! That solution will entail the idea of buying one last replacement, continue use of the projector, and in that time begin the arduous task of researching top brands, models, and technologies used... and begin to narrow down your choices and whatnot.

does anyone know a decent source for replacement lamps? my 5 year old panny is telling me it's time to replace the bulb, and i'm finding replacements for $250 - 300. part no. TY-LA1000, the same used in tons of panasonics.

can we beat these prices? what do folks think of these shops? any help would be hugely appreciated.

sorry if i'm hijacking, but i was about to post my plea for help and this thread was staring me in the face.

my bulb on my Toshiba 62HM116 lasted 17 months (1143 hours on the bulb)...

it is going back to Costco tonight (a $2700 TV should last more than 17 months) and picking up a Mitusubishi 65" set...hopefully it will last longer then 17 months...

apparently the Toshiba DLP sets have a bunch of problems and they are getting of the DLP RPTV business...

Hmm... will Costco actually take it back after that long?

They used to have a lifetime return policy, but now it's 90 days. I'm not sure how that works with those who bought stuff before the new policy went into effect.
If you bought before they changed their policy, then you still have the old return policy.

setting up the new Mitsubishi now...blu ray from my PS3 looks kick ass but the high def channels (via QAM tuner and OTA aren't as crisp, but I need to run my Video Essentials disk)...will post some pics soon...

I paid $2800 for the TV back in Aug 06, price matched it to $2500 when the price dropped a month later, so Costco just threw $2500 back on my AMEX card and I picked up the Mitsubishi TV for $1699 (both TV's have the stands included)...Costco freakin rocks!!!

Toshibas were known to have problems with the bulb...surprised you still have that POS aphex. Seriously, replace the bulb one more time and sell it.
