At what point is it "time" to take College Activities off one's resume?

My resume (Text) has a lot of information in it about my College days .... such as "this organization", "that organization", etc.

At what point is it good to remove that stuff from the resume? A few years from now, I won't even remember college, let alone the activities I did.

I mean, does my employer really care that I was an RA?

After you graduate.

I have never put any college related material on my resume. Not even what I got or where I went. It has never helped me in the business world all they have cared about so far is my post college accomplishments.

EDIT: I am in a rather specialist market though so, what I say could hold no meaning.

right after you graduate, I guess it is alright to have that stuff for filler. If you already have a full page, it may not be worth keeping it though.

But I would say by your second job, it is time for just about all of the activities to come off. just IMO

PSA: Don't post your address and phone number on the internet!

Otherwise, probably within six months of leaving college or getting your first real job... whichever comes first.

Resume contains too much information. I can't speculate how it actually looks in Word, but I'm thinking your narratives are too long... especially in that other activities section.

The only college activities I included in my resume were things that I knew would stand out for the type of job I was looking for. My degree is in Elementary Education so I included tutoring reading and math in after school programs (not a paid job). I also included other tutoring or mentoring that I did while I was in college.

If you think it will help you get a job, I'd include it but employers aren't really looking to see if you were an RA or things like that.

I just had a couple calls for interviews, I didn't even apply. Just updated my resume on Monster & they contacted me. I had information still from college, but updated to include all my current work with my first employer outside of college.

Wow, mjuszczak, you posted a thread thats not completely retarded. There may be hope for you yet.

What everyone else said. I've been working for a year now, and already almost everything college-related has been taken off. I have enough accomplishments/good deeds in one year at my job to fill up most of my resume. There's simply no need for college stuff.
