Mayne, I was hoping you would answer since you would have the most experience with this. I figured it was fake news.

If he's the bread winner then she can pound sand.

and then she files for divorce and Madoka finds out his prenup isn't worth the paper it's printed on. so she takes all his legos and all his toys, but leaves him with the kid and responsibilities, and is also granted alimony due to Madoka's incredible earning potential.

At some point mo #firstworldproblems do appear, like needing to pay for tax software to deal with investment income. I used to be able to file a 1040EZ done by hand. Poor me!

Problems start when you have enough that friends and family are constantly expecting a handout.

I still disagree. If you make $100M a year and your wife takes half it hurts but you are still doing really good. If you make $30,000 and your wife takes half you might have to move back in with your mother.

yeah but that's not all. you still have all these toys that need maintenance, staff that needs to be paid, a kid that needs school, various responsibilities/business ventures/investments/shit that you've gotten yourself into.

Pretty soon you get a new baby momma, and the cycle repeats.

You need to keep on working to keep the machine going or else. You see it all the time in high net worth individuals - they make a ton of money but it all goes into investments, day care, school, etc. Pretty soon they've committed some 80% of their paycheck for the next 20 years of their lives, and if they stop it all falls apart.

1¢. As soon as you have money, some worm want's to take it from you, and it grows exponentially from there.

Once you have a house/property, and all the general big things you dreamed of as a kid, I'd say anything after that. You will just keep wanting more and spending more. It's human nature to never think "it's enough". Always want more. Basically how corporations work too. They always want more. The bigger they get, the worse they are in terms of product quality, customer service, employee treatment, waste, legal issues etc.

My dream as a kid was pretty much that, to be on my own and own a house. I'm there now. I don't even care about the idea of having a brand new car, I'm happy with used. I don't really need a skidoo or boat or any other big toy. If I had lots more money sure I would get those things, but I don't really need them.

Lots of points along the line. Larger house - more to clean, more areas for things to go wrong. Larger bank\retirement account - start looking into wills or trusts. More income streams more tax work. More expensive car more expensive and complicated repairs. Family\friends perceives you as well off can lead to more friction. Some issues are more avoidable than others
