At what point do you become too sick for work?

when I'm too ill to think straight.

if it's just a matter of the sniffles and I don't want to spread it around the office or am feeling under the weather, I can work from home.

A) when you know you are past the point of being able to work even half-assedly
B) when you know you are a threat to spread it to others
C) when you can think of a good excuse and have side work that will allow you some tax-free income :awe:

A) When I'm contagious

or

B) When I'm not fully in control of my bodily functions. If I have to remain within 20 feet of a toilet, I'm not going in to work.

😛

Same. I'm a software developer so if I'm staring blankly at the screen for minutes at a time because I can't concentrate then there's no point in trying to work.

This.

No one wants you in the office if your going to spread it around.

When I'm more of a distraction than a benefit to my employer/coworkers. So if I'm sniffling, coughing, puking ect. uncontrollably or just a hot mess of misery I'm staying home.

This. I hate it when people bring their bugs into work and give it to everybody. Don't come in like that!

my problem is I never know if it's allergies or if I'm coming down with something.

90% of the time it's allergies.

today? not so sure!

Depends on if you are payed salary or hourly wage. If you are payed salary, and have either sick time, or the ability to work from home then why torture yourself?

the runs or puking means I aint going to work

if work a bunch of 10-12's in a row including going in on the weekends for some emergency BS so that I get so tired I cant even play a game at night when I get home

I take the day off, sleep late, and play a couple hours of games

once I am caught up from the emergency

When it would be impossible for me to perform my duties. I have to deal with customers, so anything that has me going to the bathroom often, kills my ability to concentrate, or is highly communicable would render me useless for work purposes.

When it becomes a safety issue. We work independently for the most part so spreading it isn't to much of a concern. When it affects my strength to where I feel I can't fight off a thug I stay at the house.

when working becomes uncomfortable due to the illness. though I only take about 1-3 sick days off per year despite such a low threshold.
