At what CPU does the GF2 GTS max out at?

Say at 1280x1024 or 1600x1200.

I've been considering a CPU upgrade for a while now, and really don't want to if all it'll give me is a boost at 640x480 or something.

And if I raise the resolution and I get a nice performance drop, that would indicate the CPU isn't slowing it down any at that particular resolution yes?

If your going at 1024x768 going any higher than 800mhz probably will not make much of a difference. Of course, that is dependant on the game. Some games use more cpu than Video card but for the most part you will see very little difference.

It depends on whether you are running it at 16bit, or 32bit color. I don't think any cpu right now can max out the card in 16bit color, but in 32bit color it's the memory bandwidth of the card that holds the the gpu back at higher resolutions. That's why the Pro and Ultra versions of the card are faster at higher resolutions primarily, because of the speed of the memory. GTS=333mhz, Pro=400mhz, and Ultra=460mhz.

So back to another question of mine.

If I raise the resolution and I get a nice performance drop, that would indicate the CPU isn't slowing it down any at that particular resolution yes?
