Well I don't think so! There is that woman I work with, she's 36 and very attractive looking, despite that she has 2 kids.

We're not all merely "boys".. I'm 35 and prefer women in my age group. The non-frumpy kind, thank U.

That sounds WAY too thin, IMO.

The subject has come up at lunch several times recently in fashion, diet, exercise convo's and it's just really gotten me to thinking about it.

Anyone that starts to tell you to "act your age" should immediately be added to your "Don't EVER listen to this person" list.

Actually,I've probably got another good 10 pounds of chub to get off,it's a slow go but I'm getting there.Trouble is,I really NEED new clothes at this point and every time I go shopping I leave the store in tears because there's nothing there that looks good on me.The clothing all seems to be those low rise skin tight hip hugger pants and belly blouses.I'm kind of in fashion limbo, wearing baggy, too big sweaters and pants because even though they are too big now at least they don't make me look like an old fool.

Well, according to BMI (which I usually don't agree with) 5'9" and 128 is almost underweight.

Is this your own mind telling you that you should be this thin?

Heck, familiar feeling. Each time I go out shopping for clothes I end up maybe not in tears, but in complete frustration, close to tears, b/c all the nice clothes is of bigger sizes and I have to look for teen sizes b/c I'm only 168 cm height and there is absolutely no decent clothes of my size! Even if I buy anything, I need to take it to the tailor to cut the sleeves by 6 cm (always the same). Heck, why me????

Don't dye your hair. The way you describe it, your co-workers want to turn you into something boring.

I have long arms and legs so I can't wear junior sizes often, they aren't long enough in the torso or inseam.

You know, my mom just turned 50 and she still doesn't have her hair cut short and she still dyes it light brown. And I see nothing wrong with that, but I would see something wrong with her cutting it all off and letting it go grey. I also work with many women over 45 who still look good, and I hope that they never get the idea it is time to "act their age."

My wife has short hair and she's had short hair as long as I've known her (she has fat hair though so long hair looks funny on her). She is also a recent mother but at age 36 she weighs the same as she did when I met her 13 years ago (125lbs 5'4"). She wears a size 6 and sometimes a 4 depending on the clothes so I guess my answer to you would be...When she lets herself go.

The color and length of your hair has nothing to do with "acting your age". My hair is dirty blonde and past the middle of my back because that's the way I like it.

It all depends on the person...some people look better with short hair and some with long. Age shoudnt' dictate it!
And even if you DO go short..there are great stylish short haircuts. I'm sporting a short haircut now and I'm 24. I wasn't aware that at certain ages we are supposed to have a certain hair length and people who try to dictate you about that are obviously lame.

I feel the same way about clothing...wear what compliments your body. If a person has flabby and wrinkly skin...why would they want to wear revealing clothing? If not....wear what you want.

I can't believe this is what people you work with talk about at lunch! They sound like a bunch of old, gossipy ladies who care way too much what people think....what are you doing eating lunch with them? ;)

I thought the "cut your hair and wear frumpy clothes" thing went out years ago. Lot's of older gals wear their hair down now.

I've seen pics of you, and you look great. :D Do what you want.

nah, convo's about fashion, diets etc are pretty common at most workplaces, everybody and their brother is trying to lose weight and worries about their appearance.
