At what age does playing "goth" and other teenage affectations just become stupid?

1.) Why do you have to "outgrow" these "phases," as you put it?
2.) Isn't it a legitimate way of life? Not everybody turns into a business-suit wearing doctor/lawyer/CEO, you know.
3.) Just because something doesn't seem to mesh with your own lifestyle and what you consider to be the norm doesn't mean it is not a legitimate way of life. This is America, after all. Marilyn Manson, some of the "shock rockers" and what not are still into their 30s.
4.) Narrow-mindedness leads to ignorance.

Hey look it's the politically correct post of the day.
it was fun and I liked the way I looked.
I eventually just got bored of it, though, and the trip I took to Europe after graduation helped push it along a lot.
summer[(all black + makeup) + spending long periods of time walking outdoors under the sun + no AC anywhere] = fashion change 😉
my parents were pretty happy when I came back from Europe with my head shaved (prior to leaving, my hair was shoulder-length). heh.

Whatever age you are at high school graduation.
If you want to be different because there's something uncommon that you like - fine, do that. If you want to be some pseudo-individual who obviously isn't, based on as little as the fact that there is a label of "goth" applied to the hordes of other kids who look and act EXACTLY LIKE YOU, then your high school graduation seems like a good time to grow up and get a clue.
