Attorney
6th grade (approx. 11-12 yrs. old) - school took away our bouncy rubber balls because our class was playing "smear-the-queer." So without a ball, we just used someone's slipper (flip-flop, sandal, etc) as the tool that decided who was the "queer" to smear. (Basically a game where someone kicks or throws a ball (or slipper, in our case) in the air, and whoever catches it get chased by everyone else, until he/she is tackled...then that person kicks the ball in the air, and the game continues). The school threatened all involved with playing a "unauthorized ball game." I made the argument to the principle that we didn't have a ball, therefore could not possibly be playing any kind of ball game, authorized or not. Also argued that when the school limited our recess activities (they had already banned dodge-ball, basketball and kick-ball) we were left with little choices on how to "play" during our recess. The principle agreed not to give us detention, but then banned all type of "tackling" or "rough-housing" games. My 6th grade teacher said I should be an attorney. I had no idea what that was, but was fascinated that you could get paid to argue...
