At what age did brand names matter to you?

My little guy is only 3 years old and today when we were shopping he would rather put back the package of no name oreo's and get none than settle for the cheap ones... I could not believe this... He wanted double stuff oreo's or none. So I told him well if that is how it is then we will get none. And that was the end of it... I was suprised that he did not change his mind....

You let your kid watch too god damn much TV that's why. He's been brain washed by strong subliminal messages in commercials.

Good thing you didn't give in.

I don't remember when brand names mattered to me. Probally with a pair of shoes when I was younger.

They matter to me only when dealing in electronics. I couldn't care less if my coke was a Pepsi or a generic Savon brand.

While you may not find it interesting, at least Dora is educational. I think you should encourage that kind of programming rather than the rest of that garbage on TV.

At the age of 3 and you already get such a response from him? Looks like you got your work cut out for ya sorry to say.

Name brands didn't even strike me until I was like 12-13 yrs old when I went to high school.

I don't remember ever caring about brand names, but that's probably because my mom used to always get the cheapest item. If it tasted the same, then it doesn't matter whose name is on the box. We managed to get a lot of Big K since it was on sale often at the Kroger's we shopped at.

Big K Citrus Drop tastes just like Mt. Dew, so why pay more?

Food, never. Obviously the taste matters, and a lot of generics just aren't the same. For clothing, I'm not sure it ever really mattered, but I do remember all the way back to the 1st or 2nd grade when someone asked me what brand my shoes were and I was embarassed that they were generic. I was scared for life.

Dora rocks. It helps my daughter understand all the illegal's kids at her school that can't speak a word of english. Now before you ask what border town I'm in I'm not. This is fvcking GA.
Good they have a show to help us with our transition though.

Depends, sometimes generic stuff is the same, sometimes better, but certain things have to be the correct brand, such as Thomas's English muffins and Pillsbury rolls. Also, get cheap liquor at your own peril - a lot of it is less pure than even moderately priced stuff and can lead to hangovers. I speak from experience.

Same here, but that was only because I played basketball, and most of the team had the same brand. Peer pressure man!

Other than that, I favor certain electronics manufacturers just based on experiences with each.

I remember my mom would buy knock-off cereal brands when I was little and I always told her they tasted like crap. Your son is right, generic brand Oreos taste like crap.

Eh, I grew up on generic snack foods and Faygo pop (that and diet Pepsi). Now I love the sh!t! But I won't skimp on Little Debbie... that's where I draw the line.

Sometimes the no-name stuff doesn't taste that great, are you sure it was strictly a name-brand recognition thing?
