Jesus, reading The Inferno isn't that bad. I read it all in 12th grade. You could complain about reading the whole Comedy, though. IMO Inferno was interesting, but if it isn't to you it probably sucks.

It is practically impossible to read though, since Dante gives really specific references every few sentences that require reading the footnotes.

Edit: Wait. You're bitching about having to write a 2-page essay on a book and a movie? Jesus, quit whining. Just read the book or read sparknotes.

The only part of this thread I care about is an English class using What Dreams May Come as part of the class. Seriously? It was a decent movie, but educational no.

2 pages on the Inferno? Suck it up, its TWO PAGES. Hopefully you have a version that explains Dante's political affiliations.

ooc, is the inferno you're referring to, dante's inferno?

just read it. it's an awesome book.

i'm thinking about buying it on amazon right now because it's so awesome.

btw, prompted by this thread, i decided to buy a hardbound copy of dante's divine comedy off amazon.

(along with a hardbound copy of 'the prince'.)

Dante's Inferno is fucking awesome.

Since you're realy strapped for time:
Read the cliff notes, canto by canto. So you get the gist.
Watch the movie

Find the parallels.

Judging by the assignment, she's looking for overarching themes so you dont need to know the lines of the book to write a good paper.

Seems like this is a pretty cake assignment since its only 2 pages

Sorry, but a 2 page essay really shouldn't be too hard to write. With only 2 pages you can mostly just speak in generalities, you won't have to get specific at all.
I could probably read the jacket cover and come up with two pages.

It's one of those "try to engage students" kind of effort. Can't say I blame them for trying.

PS op you might want to fix the title.

go bitch to the counselor and when that doesn't work....

then
Read the book.
Watch the movie.
Type the 2 pages.

Or
Drop the class.
Apply to Burger king.
Post about how much you hate all of the buttons they make you push.

Then
Decide to go back to school.
Read the book.
Watch the movie.
Type the 2 pages.

fixed

I have to write a two page essay comparing it to the movie "what dreams may come", which is a looooosssseeee interpretation of it. I'm finding it difficult to compare a book I haven't opened to a movie.

now how the fuck does this bitch expect me to pull this one off? lovely.

/rant.

go back to your old english class?
