Great, just great.. So we have this doped up broad(just took meds) who could quite possibly be on her period and not thinking rationally who is carrying a weapon that can easily kill people.

Because people have an irrational fear of guns being pointed at them.

What harm has been done to them if the trigger hasn't been pulled? They can just carry on and/or walk away.

When guns are pointed at you by an individual you have every reason to believe THAT PERSON has hostile intentions.

Nobody freaks out in Walmart when a gun behind the counter just happens to be pointed in their direction while just sitting there inanimate as they walk by.

I see guns pointed at me all the time when I'm at gun stores. Either on their racks, on a counter, passing by someone handling a clearly empty checked and open weapon who wasn't pointing it at anybody, etc. 0 fux given.

Until they actually shoot you, you can carry on and/or walk away. No physical harm has been done.

Anyone have stats for how many crimes have been committed by someone open carrying? I'm gonna guess it's an extremely low number.

It's not uncommon to see open carry around here. It's a virtual guarantee that someone has a decent mount of firearms experience and possesses the proper permit (simply a 'carry permit' here). It doesn't hurt that you can also usually note that they are not carrying something cheap, and it is well-retained in a quality holster. I've yet to spot a Hi-point being open carried; nor have I even seen anything in a 'universal' holster, period.

You should be more afraid of someone NOT open-carrying. While the odds of them having a gun are less (...easy to be less than '100%'), they're still far more likely to shoot someone, I would say. Yet no one says 'OMG, he doesn't have a gun! I bet there's Bulgarian CZ knockoff stuck in the front of his pants!'
