Don't deposit cash at an ATM. But checks are just fine. Hell you are on video during your deposit. just hold the envelope up to the camera before you pop it in the slot.

Correct we're just talking about cash.

Checks are ok since they are a monetary instrument ... they leave a paper trail and are traceable. Checks are safe and ok to deposit in the ATM.
