ok, well we are planning on getting 2 phones(nokia 3360 and 8260) from amazon.com. the 3360 ends up costing $0 and the 8260 $29.99 but you have to buy it with a plan. the thing is there is no option to select 2 phones and 1 plan. you have to select the phone with a plan to get the deal. ie. $0(3360) + 29.99(digital advantage plan) then the other one 29.99(8260) + 29.99(digital advantage plan)

now we do not want to pay $60 a month for 2 plans. how exactly do i go about doing this? we need 2 phones, 2 numbers and only 1 plan.

but you pay more money dont you? should i just get the 8260 with the plan and then add another phone and number at the store? can you even do this? would want do this since the 3360 is a cheaper phone to buy than the 8260.

I don't think there is any such thing as "2 phones, 1 plan". AT&T Wireless has a deal where you can have two phones which have free calling between them (kind of like 1 plan) but it's more expensive than 2 separate cheap plans.

Each phone number requires a plan. Simple as that.

you can get the shared plan, that's the only way but that's $60 also. you can't get 2 phones, 2 numbers and only 1 plan. i wanted to do that also, but there's no way :(

hmm, well att is dumb, we dont need 500 anytime minutes. most of the calls i make are at night and weekends and my mom only would use the phone for an hour or 2 a month. calling plans suck but we really need to switch since currently she uses a motorola phone which is like 7 years old...remember when motorola advertised the drop test phones? yeah, she has that and cant even carry it around cause its too freaking big. hmm, maybe i'll pay for my own service.

Cooljt1 - pretty much no wireless provider offers a plan where you can have 2 phones on one plan for anything under $50. Cingular, Sprint, and I think AT&T all require plans of $59.99+ in order to add phones - then it's an additional $16.99 a month to add a phone. (Or something along those lines)

so i could buy the 8260 for 29.99 at amazon with the 250 min 29.99 plan and then once i have that could i go to an att wireless store and upgrade my plan to the family plan and buy the 3360?

Here's a thought. You'd have to check this out further because I don't have first-hand experience, but my understanding is that if you try to use a cell phone without a plan (no carrier assigned to your phone), you will be prompted for a credit card number to use for the call. If you mother rarely uses the phone, that could be cheaper than the cheapest "regular" plan.

you might not be able to switch from a regular plan to the share plan...you can always try but they might consider that as leaving your contract, i do know they let you upgrade or downgrade your plan from say the $40 to the $30 or $50...

i actually just changed from the $40 digital advantage to the $30 digital advantage plan...

oh yeah, i was researching the family plan for my parents recently and it's better to get 2 regular plans instead...

$30 plan currently includes 250 anytime, 1,000 night/weekend...this is the digital advantage plan which includes long distance anywhere within california to anywhere else in california...

family plan starts at $60 for 2 lines and includes 500 anytime, 1,000 weekend (no nights so those anytime min will have to cover from mon 12am - friday 11:59pm) and $20 each additional line (starting from the 3rd line) not sure about cali long distance on the famly share plan...also unlimited calling between the lines sharing this plan...

so getting 2 of the $30 plans is actually better cause you actually get night mins...hope this helps...post anymore questions here...
