I've happily ported from AT&T to cingular one month ago. I thought I was rid of there piss poor service forever...until I got my final billing statement from them.

I ported my service 10 days into the billing cycle on 1/5/2004. They bill me the full cycle (12/27/2003 - 1/26/2004), instead of prorating my monthly service. I call and the CSR says they don't prorate! WTF?! Is she sh*tting me? Are they for real?

Tried calling back to get another, hopefully more helpful, CSR, but got tired of being hold forever.

Has anyone else had similar misfortune with AT&T Wireless? Is there anything I can do to protest? :|

sorry man, they won't prorate your last bill and bill you for a whole month of service instead. yes, fvck attws. just pay the damn bill and never deal with them again.
luckily, I made 3 calls to make sure they will cancel my service as soon as my billing cycle is ended.

I don't know why this is such a big suprise to you. It was printed on your Nov. invoice before porting started. Just read your bills.

Its ATT. I would cut your losses and just leave those losers behind. From the looks of it they're being bought up by someone. I guess we'll see what happens.

Stupid me. I always paid online without thoroughly reading the invoice.

I wasn't expecting to have to deal with this. I thought I had already scheduled for my service to be terminated at the end of my contract months ago.

when I called them to make sure my service would be cancelling on 14th(my billing cycle ends) the rep was SHOCKED, because nothing noted on my account that I would be cancelling my service. it was on the 12th. then I made another call on 13th to make sure my service definitely will be cancelled.

Same thing happened to me. Except I called to check after my contract had expired. It's a $40 lesson to read the fine print.

yeah, i still gotta call at&t cause i received a call from them saying i owe $200 since i ported my number to verizon it breaks the contract i had with them that was supposed to end in july. thing is, i am willing to stay with them til july but now they say i have to switch back or some bs. when i talked to cs on the phone i asked about cancelling out of my contract and they said as long as i transfer the service to another person or fulfill my contract its ok. now they are saying because my number was carried over i owe a fee.

isn't that common sense ?
You switch over to a diff carrier before your contract term, you broke the contract.
Doesn't seem like rocket science to me.

there's no way you can talk ATT out of the cancellation fee. "It's in the terms and conditions!"
you can reinstate the service (and they will waive the cancellation fee), ask them to issue you a new number, switch to the lowest plan, wait until july, and then cancel it

Just signed up with ATT, although the wait times are out of control, ive had nice CSRs so far. They do prorate their bills. Call back & get a different CSR.

funny you should switch to Cingular because they are trying to buyout AT&T wireless. but i'm sure all mergers increase customer service ;)

I highly doubt they'll do that.

You ahve 4-5 months left on the contract, and they can get the 200 from you now.
Why should they wait.
It's most unlikely, but you can give it a shot.

The Customer Service I have received from AT&T has been stellar. They pro-rated my bill when I switched service and have been more than flexible with me paying as was affordable during the recent work downturn.
It is unfortunate your experience hasn't been as good.

I hate ATT very much.... i had them for a couple years ago when they were good, but they've gone down hill since. I'm now with Veizon and couldn't be happier with service and reception. Verizon pWnz

I started on att with a 19.99$ (30 minute) plan to try out their service...

4 days after activation i decided i didnt like it and had the plan canceled (well within 15-day cancellation time frame)

today they sent me a bill, trying to nail me with 60$. somehow, 4 days of service got split up into 2 separate bills/billing cycles. my 36$ activation wasnt refunded (its supposed to be). 10$ came from 23 min@.45$/min.... i'd using only 28 total minutes. apparently they only gave me 5 free minutes, and the rest were charged at the escalated price.

in short, i had:
15 day cancellation window
30 minute bucket

i used it for 4 days, and 28 minutes, and got charged 60$

i sent them an email and, ofcourse, they havent replied

When you take a phone back like that they prorate the cost of it for you, BUT they also prorate the minutes. I know that every CSR I've talked to at every cell phone company has told me the samething about that.

Not true at all. I've gotten out of the cancellation fee from Sprint as well as Nextel. I have my tried and true method which has worked for all the cell phone companies :D

Not bought up....they are offering to sell...there's a difference.

In S. Florida I like my AT&T better, my wife has Cingular....it took me three days to not get a busy signal calling them, and then having to go through a million drill downs you can't punch ahead on.

AT&T it's always about 5 minutes or less and I get an answer.

Plus I have a way better plan offered than Cingular wanted to compete with.
