AT&T: Using more than 2GB/month on your phone = abusing service

This is only half the month since my stats were wiped when I put on a new rom and doesnt count my 30gb of tethering of this half.

Damn. I got my notice 5,100MB last month and thought I had another 5GB this month. 🙁 I'm on "4G H+" too but they specifically excluded it despite bandwidth being the only relevance. This is clearly meant to include H+ iPhone 4S users or else they'd likely try to avoid differentiating their two kinds of "4G."

Basically, this is what they wanted all along. If they had originally attempted to cap @ 3GB/5GB, the uproar would have required they increase above that, so they set the bar much lower. The uproar causes them to increase the limit to 3GB/5GB, and now everyone is pacified. Everyone should still be bitching.

I am. I had a 5GB cap last month and now I have a 3GB cap. I have the text messages to prove it. You'd better believe I'm complaining. "4G HSPA+" users. They should have raised the minimum to 3GB and left the maximum as "up to" the level set by the top 5% of data users. I fully intended to run right up to 5GB again.

Being grandfathered into an unlimited is the only reason I stay with AT&T. Guess I'll be switching soon.

Could you use this change of terms to cancel your contract without penalty? If so, that would be IMO the best way to complain.

I'm on verizon 🙂 grandfathered unlimited.

I used atlwast 6gbs a month. No tethering.

Yep, Verizon's unlimited still is and always has been true unlimited for me.

I don't expect that to last forever, but I'm not surprised AT&T was the one to go first. That's why I left em a long time ago.

If my HSPA+-capable Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G R800at supported T-Mobile's frequencies for DC HSPA+, I would in a heartbeat.

I think you could probably make an argument for it.

I don't like it, because my market was not affected by any of this, but from the looks of it, the new 3GB/5GB cap is a blanket and not per market, so now I'm affected.

I would vote with my wallet, but I'll have to wait on Sprint to get their LTE network up and running first. But AT&T is definitely not getting a contract renewal from me at this point.
