why don't people just get Verizon ? Because of their phone models ?

I had verizon for about 5 years and then I got tired of getting nickel and dimed to death by them. Especially getting crippled phones so I would use their pay services instead of being able to use a feature built into the phone. Good reception doesn't mean much when they don't give a rats about the end user. My .02.

Care?? what is this CARE you speak of?

AFAIC they give me good coverage, i don't really care what they do about auxiliary stuff like text messaging, ring tones, etc. my phone isn't a toy, it's my business.

for kids that want that kind of cr@p go with TMobile.

I'd have to agree here... it's not really business for me, but all I want from my cell phone company is good phone service. I haven't touched Get It Now or any of the downloadable toys (or gimmicks as I see them). The only real extra of any value is the text messaging and I do "a la carte"... which always ends up being cheaper than the $5/mo. they charge for unlimited.

Anyway, when I had Sprint, I had Vision and all the other stuff that came with my cool phone then but I would get absolutely infuriated when my calls dropped. :| The bigger discount wasn't enough for me to put up with that.

Lets see. Cingular is mostly owned by SBC to begin with. Southern Bell Corp used to be Southerwestern Bell until a group of the baby bells got together to form SBC. Cingular used to be Southwestern Bell Wireless.

Still with me?

Last year Cingular(SBC), bought ATT Wireless. Now SBC is buying(merging w/) ATT, now, SBC is killing off Cingular. Very round about way and highly enefficent way of doing business.

"Update: Cingular fans, we have good news ? as reported by RCR, apparently Cingular spokesman Clay Owen said they ?are continuing with the strong Cingular brand that we have spent the past five years building and promoting.? In other words, it looks like USA Today?s report was predicated on some miscommunicated information ? SBC is changing its name to AT&T, yes, and they plan on resurrecting AT&T branded wireless service, yes, but apparently as something more akin to an MVNO leasing Cingular?s network capacity. So if we?re to believe RCR on this, then Cingular stays, AT&T wireless is back as an MVNO in ?select? markets, and all is well. We?ll keep you posted? [Thanks, Vic.]"
