AT&T Sucks, they're raising cable and internet fees

Just got the notification last night. The basic cable is going up around $3 and the cable internet is going up $1. This now makes it almost equal to DSL. I will be paying $40.95 and thats will me owning a cable modem. The people that don't are going to be paying $50.95.

AT$T thinks that they can keep inching up the rates and no one will notice. The notice for the internet increase was hidden on the back of the last page and not with all the other rate increases. :|

Optoman, you forgot to note that their @Home service sucks, big time! Here in south Florida they are being sued by the cities of Plantation and Fort Lauderdale because their service is unacceptable. My connection is always slow when things are normal, and down when things are worse. Was down all day on Saturday, and half a day yesterday. Just par for the course. Options? Have none.
They gots me by the short ones.

Ummm....ATT doesn't use @Home service......as of last Saturday. ATT is suck! Damn glad I only pay $10 a month for my cable internet.

I only pay 7 because the bill is split between 3 of us, but still... we're poor college students damnit, stop this!

A 1.5% increase once a year or so isn't bad, so long as it follows the rate of inflation. That I can understand. Any more I would think would have to be justified with an increase in service.

Actually reading the business section they say at $50 a month there not even breaking even with the service there providing. The cost of DSL and cable cost more to deploy per person than $50 a month.

A friend who works for the telephone company says it cost then $2000 per DSL line to setup in terms of equipment cost and maintaintence there hoping that the long term market share will be what turns a profit.

It will be 10 to 20 years before we see real broadband.
