AT&T must not want a new customer

I've talked to two people from AT&T now to order U-verse and they both have told me they'll call back when their call center is open to place the order and both times they haven't called. I'm thinking I may just call Comcast instead and tell them I'm comparing U-verse to their services and see if they'll give me a discount or more features like a free DVR to keep me as a customer.

They didn't want me as a customer. Had them out to hook up U-verse. Didn't qualify for 2 HD streams due to distance (shouldn't they have known that before constantly spamming me with offers?). Did qualify for 18MB internet ($65/month) but they refused to sell it to me without TV when I've heard of others getting internet only. They would only offer some significantly slower DSL service. They had already wasted a couple hours at my house checking things out, waiting for linesman, etc... One would think since they've already LOST money on me they would as least give me the high speed internet in order to get a customer from Comcast.

Yeah, I did some research about the technology they're using and I'm glad they haven't contacted me yet. I'll stick with Comcast until they provide something closer to Fios.

You too? My g/f called me over the past few days from her iFone and the call would drop every 1-2 mintues. Must have been a nation wide problem.

AT&T is a disorganzied mess. I called to setup DSL service in my new place. No one told me that I would have be home because the tech would need access to the telephone box in my building. So I missed my first appointment and had to wait another week before I had internet in my new apartment. The installer said that it seems to be a big problem with the sales people - not informing the customer to remain home on the appointment day to provide building access.
