AT&T Modem w/ Antenna

Hello Everyone,

I am new to these forums, but I have looked around everywhere and just can't find the answer anywhere with enough information to be useful. Does anyone here have experience with AT&T modem with a detachable antenna. I need to greatly expand my wireless range, so I want to buy one of those outdoor antenna.

Is there a high quality modem that is compatible with AT&T that also has a detachable antenna. If there is not a suitable modem, could someone point me to a new modem/router combination that has a detachable antenna.

My current network always has timeout issues, which is especially troublesome during online game play. In addition like I mentioned above I need to greatly increase my range.

Use a basic modem and a separate wireless router (or your current combo device and add a wireless access point). Then you can place the router/access point (and its antennas) anywhere you want them to be.

Well I have a basic modem from AT&T, but I have always had problems with my service. I have tried different routers, but at least once a day all my devices stay connected to the routers but say they don't have internet. Power cycling the router fixes this, but all the routers I have tried have this exact same problem, which makes me think its the modem?

Should I upgrade to a more advanced modem, or do I just need a more expensive router.

This is the antenna I was looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833995097

Did you purchase the modem, or are you renting it from AT&T? If you are renting, call and tell them that you need a replacement. That's part of the rental contract.
