Hello all,

I recently purchased a Blackberry Pearl, and to my surprise you can only get maps and GPS if you join the "Tel a something service"$$, because I am a student I only have a basic plan no media bundle so yahoo maps will not work. I looked into the treckbuddy, but it seems to download those maps you also need to be online. Does anyone know of any free maps I can get for my new toy, so when I am out and about I will not have to rely on the directions from strangers. Apparently At&t is the only carrier that does not offer the gps/maps free with the phone.

Thanks again ;-)

Telnav requires an internet package and Telnav subscription. The US map is too big to be normally stored on phones and that wouldn't be profitable either.

You can stream Google Maps on your browser via $20 Media Bundle (internet package)

Not many companies offer complete standalone maps on your phone, as there are constant updates, and it is not profitable.

You could look at TomTom software but I don't think that will work for Blackberries.

All of the 'free' ones stream map data over the air, so you're mashed. Unless you shell out for the Garmin Solution for the BlackBerry, or something similar you're stuffed.

I don't think any carrier offers free maps/GPS software. They're in the business of making money.
