South summer swell in town came up and it was the first chance I had in a long while to shoot one of my favorite subjects and the reason I just had to get a 600L just like all the other surf photog pro's had so I could at least fake it like I knew what I was doing.

Took a trip to see family in the US Virgin Islands. Saw a Kestrel really close up as it was sitting on a tree in a graveyard nearby and there are loads of Grey Kingbirds around. The other interesting bird I've yet to capture is called Scaly-naped Pigeon. Got several weeks to see about capturing it in camera.

Went to Phantasea Botanical Gardens on St Thomas, USVI. Used my 40mm handheld for most of the shots (these are my faves) and my daughter had her 100-400mm Sigma for the birds, but the foliage was super dense so it was very dark for birds in flight. We did get some pictures of the Green Mango hummingbird and Bananaquit birds in the flight, but yeah, too much grain.

Upper atmosphere was pretty clear tonight here in North Dallas so the moon craters came out pretty sharp....shot from my front yard on my Sony A7 RIV with 200-600 in crop mode....

Wow, that is very crisp for, what I assume, is a fixed point shot (no tracking).
Where is this? I added it to my desktop background pics and I don't know what to name it :)

Palo Duro Canyon. It's the second largest canyon system in the US. It's 10 miles east of Canyon, Texas, the county just south of Amarillo.
