The shadow from her head says the light was from high above to the right rear - my guess is, the sun. 🙂

Perfect example.
While the DSLR shot is more pleasing due to various characteristics, the phone shot has one big advantage (for this shot) - more DOF.

I was really hung up on the shallow DOF my FF camera provided -- but would then complain about how hard it was to get more DOF.

My m43 is an in-between solution - more DOF than FF, less then phone.

The other advantage of the m43 that I'm finding is I can shoot at (for example) f/5.6, which gets me an "equivalent" f/11 of FF... all while using a faster shutter speed (useful for handheld.)

I'm not convinced any one format is the "right" format.

Still on St Thomas, USVI. The first shot is at the Village, which is like a pop-up amusement park/food court during the Carnival and the second is at John Brewer's Bay beach.

I normally get side shots of her when she flies by but she turned earlier than usual so I was able to get a nearly head on shot of her today...

But I was still able to get a side shot anyway...the sun was on the other side of her so her normally bright red tail is not as bright...DSC00772.jpg
