the only thing I'm not too happy about my 5d mark 2 is the stupid AF. I've had more misses than hits. I'm about 60-70% AF accurate for portraits... This is with my 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, 17-40 f/4L.

I will say when I had my nikon D300, I was about 95% accurate... sad :(

hopefully the mark 3 will fix this!

or I should take my 5D Mark 2 in for maintenance!

I should test my AF. I never use it though for some odd reason 90% of my shots are MF.

it's hard to judge whether or not if the eye is in focus or not... you might hit an eye lash... that's just tooo close to call... In weddings, AF is very very important. you need to quick and outta there!

I remember shooting weddings. I absolutely hated them. I've never made that much money ever again :(

I'm tempted with a 5d2 but would use it 99% manual focus (and keep the 7D).

if the 5D3 could replace both I may go for that.

5D's centre point af is fine but the outer ones are poor and this almost forces focus & recompose which will result in errors.

Sorry, just marking this thread so I remember to post here tomorrow or whenever I have bandwidth back. (And, so I can see the pictures!)

I took this yesterday in Lahaina at the Volcom Crustaceous surf contest. Old surfers are awesome

These are from this weekends Air show at Pease in Portsmouth New Hampshire. Unfortunately the sky was mostly overcast, so there is far more grey than I would have liked, but I still like these shots.

One of the many reasons I love living in Hawaii. Beauty is everywhere!

here are some of my backyard - taken back in April. raw files seemed a bit dark so i lightened them up in Canon's DPP.

Mini well done! Was that post processed or a natural effect of the 135/2?

thanks!

i only brightened the raw image... the bokeh/DOF is a natural effect of the 135. great lens, i need to use it more.

i think on the picture you referenced, the AF picked up the white flower on the right and so that is super sharp and the others aren't. i personally like the second picture.

Not a great picture. Sun in front, 20x zoom, and a lot of cropping. But it's a sailing ship. The Chilean ship Esmeralda

Oh and remember you have under half the DOF on the 5D as you would on the D300! f2.8 on FF can produce very shallow DOF, focus and recompose will introduce errors and give OOF shots.

Only way to tell is do some real controlled tests and see if its right or wrong there.
