Last owl for awhile, promise.
I've gone back to see if I could catch the owl in better light and I managed about 30 minutes earlier, and I hiked above and behind the tree to get a different vantage point.

Today's predawn planets.

Top and center is Venus. To the lower left in the brightest part of the sky is Jupiter just rising above the trees.

Between Venus and Jupiter are two fainter objects forming a vertical line. The red one on top is Mars and the blue one below is Regulus, the brightest star in the Leo constellation.

About how far away are you? How heavy is the cropping?

This is coming from my D5200 at ISO 800.
I had LR save it at 50% quality, so don't expect awesome -- just gives you an idea of what I'm working with.
