Close to it!
S&M has reportedly killed a few people's PSUs! :Q
It's far more stressful that any other stability testing program i've found!

Hmm, interesting.

Really though, i want to see Netburst die sooner, rather than see yet another last gasp rehash

Still no reason to switch from an X2 as far as i am concerned.

Brace yourself for several more rehashes. Word has it that they won't be able to beat the A64 for 2 more years. If only I had money to invest in AMD...perfect time to buy IMO.

Word has it? what the hell kind of word is that besides the voice in your head?

Man you need to pay attention to the down low. I do tons of reading online; I don't always remember where I see these tidbits.

Intel's new architecture won't hit mainsteam during 2006 whatsoever though, and that has indeed been widely reported.

The voice inside my head is telling me that you're not very well informed, unfortunately. :(

So intels roadmap that says "2h 2006" and the fact they already have working 65nm engineering samples (the same process conroe/merom will be on initially) is no indication at all that they might be on track?

So your heavy online research on an architecture that even the engineers at intel havent finalized is obviously going to be:

1. late
2. slower than AMDs offer at the time

Sorry i was skeptical, you seem to know what youre talking about miss cleo.

This forum is so AMD biased right now that any good news about Intels future is automatically riddled with fanboy rumors and flat out lies about it.

Ok Beevis, you should really read more, it would benefit your brain which seems to be somewhat lacking as of late.

Everything I have read has slated Conroe for "late 2006" release, and many are speculating that it will not be released in 2006 at all. Even if it *is*, there is no guarantee that it will be faster than the A64, or whatever AMD has up its sleeve at that point in time.

FYI, early 2007 is a year and a half from now, making two years far from impossible.

The voices inside my head are telling me that you own intel stock and that you cannot bear to hear about how horrible their architecture is. Sucks to be you I suppose.

Well, at least there's an excuse for fanboy rumors here. 85%+ are using AMD processors. :D

I know there's a lot of bias here (and elsewhere) you've just got to let it go and focus on the facts.

And what you're saying about the unreleased Conroe isn't "rumour"?

You're a fanboy in your own right.

I'd be very happy if intel came out with something competetive. Unfortunately I've been running AMD since the Slot-1 Celeron days (P2-era) because the Athlon simply dominated, along with most of the AMD chips that followed.

The Conroe parts will surely be competitive with AMD, whether they beat their performance or not is probably not important. If they do, then I hope AMD doesnt bring out a product as tasteless as was the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition, when the Athlon 64 came out.

At that time, I think Intel just brought out P4 EE as stopgap and was just doing more research on Tejas, instead of going back to the drawing board and working on Merom from then on.

I think P4 EE signalled Intel shooting themselves in the foot. I think Merom and Conroe will definitely be great parts, but competition with A64 will be tight. I dont think the new Intel parts will be as poorly off as are the P4 parts. But in the end, its the buyer who really wins, as price will probably be the decider.

Today I think many of us have become pro-AMD on the desktop because of their performance, on the laptop we shouldnt really have to complain about Intel's Centrino.

Fanboyism at its extreme. Results to personal insults to try to prove his unprovable point.

But netburst sucks, that's true hacp, sorry if the intel fanboys get ofended and cry, but that's a fact even accepted by intel with the furure architectural change. So you will call intel guys AMD fanboys for accepting that? quite ridiculous.:disgust:

Im a fanboi with an A64 rig in my sig... i have 3 AMD rigs and one intel... and the intel is a pentium 3 coppermine....

Im saying your adamant dismissal of all that is good news about Intel shows your bias.

And the Northwood destroyed the athlon XP for a good while before the 64 came out.
