My internet is not cable, it's fibre and it is the only internet my provider offers. Our condo is hard-wired with it, with each unit getting a direct link to the mothership. It does not work the same way as what you stated.

I have been on this internet for about 4 years now and it has never had anything even remotely close to this issue (it only started about 2 weekks ago, which is about 2 weeks after I installed new hardware and Windows 7). I am almost 100% certain it is not my ISP, but after reading everything here and investigating elsewhere, it probably has something to do with Win 7 and my mohterboard (or some other component) even though others here and elsewhere have been using these components without issue.

Once I have time this weekend I will probably do a full re-install as nothing else has worked yet. Failing that I will have to start doing some shopping.

Just because you're on fiber doesn't mean you're impervious to issues. I would call your ISP and have them check your connection out, but that's just me.

I had some trouble with games right after i installed Windows 7 but i found this to help..

It did help me even though it talks about it being an Windows XP Fix.

The issue is something known as the "Nagle Algorithm". Anyways I'll keep it simple, this algorithm was created years ago as a way of allowing a steady stream of data to use low bandwidth. It was designed for older dial up modems to prevent online games and other things sending large numbers of small packets from filling up your entire bandwidth sending "ACK Packets". What this does is automatically delay your computer from responding to a single packet by 200ms which allows your computer to respond to multiple packets at once using less bandwidth. What this essentially does, is add up to 200ms to your lag. If you want to know more, do some googling; I don't want to bore you.

Anyways, if you are on a modern broadband connection, you can DRASTICALLY improve your Mabinogi lag by disabling this algorithm. I am unsure of how to do this in Windows Vista, but in Windows XP it is a simple registry edit.

1. Run Regedit
2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameter s\Interfaces\
3. It gets tricky here, there be a bunch of Folders with letters and numbers under this Key, you need to find the one that is your network adapter. Browse them one at a time and look for the ones with similar settings to your network, such as if you have an IP address or a Gateway manually set. If you are unsure, you could always just try adding the line to all of them.
4. Add a DWORD named TcpAckFrequency This is Case Sensitive. If it is already there, skip to step 5.
5. Set the Value of the DWORD to 1
6. Reboot your PC

After this, the Nagle Algorithm will be disabled.

BTW, this is the same thing as the "Leaktrix Latency Fix."

I only remember the name of that particular guy's script from the wow addon, but that's basically all it is. It makes your system responds to smaller packets more frequently (at the miniscule cost of overhead) instead of sending the replies all at once to save on the packet header/trailer overhead. I suppose I should remember it as the "Nagle Algorithm" isntead of that dumb leaktrix latency fix.

Well after trying everything I gave up and just re-installed Windows 7. Everything is working perfectly now...we'll see how long that lasts. I turned off automatic updating because for some weird reason I think that messed things up, at least a little bit.

Anyway, thanks again to everyone for the help and suggestions!
