Even thought the indictment is listed as 2007, the alleged crime occurred prior to the
election of 11/2006. After a FBI sting operation that allegedly found some $95,000 of
bribe money in the Jefferson's home freezer. And only now, after endless legal maneuvering,
has the supreme court finally ruled that Jefferson can no longer delay and must stand trial.

All well and fine, I can understand Jefferson has both a right to a defense and has raised some
legitimate legal questions. Nor do I think courts should rush to judgment, but what we have here
is a case where courts are barely crawling to judgment. In this and so many more cases, our legal
system fails to function in crawl mode.

Good, IIRC the guy that was running against him only narrowly defeated him in the last election after all of this information came out.

Any chance that the 90K+ in his fridge was legit?
