Wow, so many want to make this political when it's a horrible attack in the US. The guy who did it is a terrorist and that's the only politics about this. Pathetic.

trying to figure out how to prevent attacks like this is very important and is political, whether you like it or not.
 
Isn't NYC the city Trump has been trying to defund since March? Why doesn't he care about their counterterrorism programs? Programs like active-shooter training to intelligence analysis and bomb squad equipment... Sounds like de Blasio was right... And hey... Is Uzbekistan on the terror watch list? Didn't they used to be part of Russia?

we've had two major terrorist attacks in the US this year and neither would have been prevented by trump's failed travel bans.

are you suggesting that the travel bans, which were intended to prevent terrorist attacks aren't politics?
 
Terrible attack, going for kids is just beyond comprehension to me. Seems like first responders did a great job. It's too bad there are those here who are being very insensitive about this and making ignorant comments.

I see it as simple: grieve for those who were lost. Think about things you can do to understand what happened and help the injured. Resist knee-jerk reactions and tasteless jokes about regulating vehicles. Don't become like the very people you claim to detest and start stereotyping an entire religion or, for that matter, the people who hate that religion. Basically: use your head, show compassion and relax.

The partisan, divisive, identity politics doesn't help create solutions. Instead it drives people to the fringes and helps foster an environment where these sort of acts are more, not less, likely to happen.

Isn't religion irrational by definition? It is a way of knowing the world against ALL scientific evidence and through words written by primitive people millennia ago. Religion is the oven that is cooking up most of the world's terrorism and is a major component holding many countries down. I do not believe this is even debatable. We have the data.
