The issue is not that everyone else in the world that shares the faith or political beliefs of someone or some group needs to stand up and denounce an evil action committed in the name of that belief. The issue is that many polls have actually shown significant support for much of the crazy behavior even among the supposedly normal non-radical followers.

He doesn't need to personally know a Muslim to make a judgement on it because he's seeing how it's practiced in places run by Muslims.

FWIW, I don't personally know any Muslims, but the ones I've encountered are pretty decent thus far, and civlized.... but they're not the majority here.

Seeing how a religion is practiced in countries in which they're the clear majority does give in a strong indication of said religion.

Not really.

It depends on how it's practiced. If they're teaching to treat others of different beliefs with dignity and respect while actually DOING that, they're fine.

But if everyone MUST convert to Islam, even by the sword, well... then it is scary.

It's the reason why IED's became so popular, they adapted pretty fucking quickly as it was around November or December in 2003 when I first heard what an IED even was and I had been doing escort missions from BIAP to multiple places within 100 miles of there.

They thought they would have the advantage of attacking them at night which is a truly horrible fuck up, and yes Apaches where eventually called in along with artillery all within 5-10 mins.

Waiting for the rounds to burn up before engaging again. After a few rounds, they would send up an IR round and the insurgents would think it was a dud and engage. While the US troops could see them bright as day.

While it's not like shooting fish in a barrel their complete lack of training and not being part of an Army actually helps them. The out in the open engagements ended fairly quickly, they moved into the cities and started playing their normal day bs. They know your military will pussyfoot around their civilians, so they will blend and fight within them as much as they can while the civvies actively help them in secret. Impossible to win a war this way.

And again I point out that you're just completely wrong, on all counts. I find most religions messed up (certainly the ones I know anything about), but the degree to which adherents follow them and interpret them strictly is what makes the difference. My friends have no problem with my thinking (and expressing) that I think a religion is messed up.

While most western countries still have a majority of people who identify with a religion or faith, they've become civilized enough to discard / ignore most of the crazy stuff in the religions. My friends don't get offended by someone disagreeing with them or pointing out crazy stuff. Unfortunately, a significant percentage of their fellow believers have not gotten to that level yet.
