What a shitshow SCOTUS has become, but then that's what happens when people feel entitled to perjury, bribes, and tearing up foundational principles like stare decisis. Nothing a few qualified secular humanist judges couldn't help correct though. Just need Congress in proper form and a president unconcerned with re election campaigns. Who knows? Maybe someday we get a Constitutional amendment that can protect the voters from acts of betrayal for partisan gain (say, ignoring an insurrection leader running for office again) or implement a code of ethics for the court.

GQP Calvinball is unsustainable. The court keeps losing credibility and it lacks demographic legitimacy. Unfit justices who go partisan toolbag keep making it worse.

He's calling for recusal on anything to do with Jan 6, but he didn't subpoena the two guys that are bribing Thomas to testify. Life is turning into on very long wait to see if anything will ever be done to end the Trump nightmare.

I mean if you read any of his decisions it’s been obvious that he has terminal Fox News brain and has for a very long time.

As I’ve said before Thomas is a corrupt nutcase but he does have some principles that will land him with the liberals on occasion. Alito is a pure apparatchik. His behavior clearly violates the code of conduct he pledged to follow but who is going to enforce it? No one.

First house is in Alexandria I believe ... that's some super pricey real estate on it's own. Then, a Jersey shore beach house on top of that. Again, expensive. I don't believe his wife works. My household income is above what Alito's "official" salary is, and those two properties would be a severe stretch at even the most favorable conditions.

Beach house on long beach island is generally in the range of $1.5-$2 million (for a small house)

Similar prices in Fort Hunt Virginia (Alexandria subdivision with his main house), although there are a few smaller homes there for around $1 million, most are in the $1.5-$2 million range.

Reported he has at least one more property, but didn't see details on where. Just paying annual property taxes and maintenance on these 2 houses likely runs upwards of $50k/year. And his entire after-tax salary wouldn't cover a mortgage on both, absent "other sources" of funds. (Although admittedly they were certainly less expensive back when he bought them.)

Shouldn't have access to more wealth-related things like houses? I guess, but that's how power has worked since before recorded history and it doesn't just go away, especially in a country where corruption is legal because legislators write laws that exempt certain people, or in other cases, just don't write laws against it.

I'm far more concerned about his having 1/9th the power of the entire Judicial Branch, personally.
