At@home cable Internet -- $19.95 for first six months

I've tried both cable and DSL, and I like cable better. While DSL is fine, if you are downloading big files, cable can be up to ten times faster than standard home DSL connections. AT&T @home is running a special until November 14 for $19.95 for the first six months. This includes everything, including ISP and modem rental. After this period, the price goes to $45 which includes $10 cable rental fee.

Att Internet site or call 1-888-824-8537

Obviously not everyone can get this deal. You can check for availability at the above website. I've had this service for over one year and love it.

I guess this is a repost. I did search for "cable" posts and nothing came up except routers and stuff. I thought the word cable should automatically be in the title of a thread like this.

@home sux... i think they blocked out ftp port 21, i cant connect to any ftp servers and its hard to download stuff

As for downloading, I challenge you to find another home internet solution that lets you download a 500MB ISO file in just over one hour. This is how long it took me to download beta ISOs of XP this past summer. The standard home DSL connections of 640/256 would have take eight hours to download the same thing. A 56K modem would take over three days to download this same file. Now if you find a home solution that will do this, I challenge you to find one for $19.95 for the first six months.

exisle, I can't say what your connection problems are, but @Home does not block port 21 transfers (ftp) as a general rule. I transfer files via ftp using port 21 (and many others) all of the time without any difficulty. You could always call tech support to try to fix whatever problem you're having. Good luck.

I'm currently in the final month of the $9.99 for first three months. Has anyone tried to disconnect service, then reconnect again to take advatage of the new promotion?

<< Offer limited to new AT&T@Home customers (you must not have had AT&T@Home within 60 days prior to installation at the same address). >>

You can try it but I don't think they'll let you.

Bad deal... you have to pay for installation... $99 upfront which negates the $19.99 per month.
Although you get a "rebate" back for the install amount i dont think you will get it anytime soon...

I'm using this deal right now, the install is ***9.99*** not freakin $99, that's for the full install, and if you can't plug in the network card and then run IE, then I think that's a fee punishment for you :|

It's great, I love it.

too bad its not available in my area - why wont' they get their act together? I live in an affluent part of N. Dallas - well, I'm not expecting it to come anytime soon, because I think @Home stopped expanding . I have DSL currently - I download consistently at 160k/sec. 500 megs * 1024 kilobytes in a meg = 512,000 kilobytes - downloading at 160k/sec = 3200 seconds, slightly under 1 hr also 🙂. Too bad it took me almost 2 hrs to download XP because of the other ppl not sending it fast enough - *sigh* I dealt with it 🙂

Yes, I got cable before and disconnect for awhile. Now with this good deal I called them and have only $19.95 per month for 1st 6 months but
I have to pay for basic installation $9.99. Doesn't matter new or old user I guess.

No, i've never done it with the internet, but ive done it a few times w/ digital cable🙂 They kept on sending me those postcards with GET ONE MONTH FREE OF DIGITAL CABLE!!!!, so I decided to capitalize on it and get 12 channels of HBO for free🙂 Ive done it three times, and they havent said anything yet

I have been an @home subscriber with Charter for over a year.....I had satellite TV and they made me an offer to buy my satellite system which cost me $40 for $300 and give me all the premium channels for 39.99 for 6 months and then $49.99 for the next, I was paying $72 with sat.....but what sold the deal was to lower my internet to $10.00 a month for a year. I have had very few problems with my cable internet.....I have multiple IP addresses and run a webserver and an FTP server....and they have never bothered me about either.
