hi there, i'm a NooB and confused here. my specs-
p4 2.4c
P4P800-vm (micro)
1028 RAM
80 GB WD sata
fx-5900xt
XP home
i have a nec-3500 dvd- burner working fine and added a artec dvd-rom. i have the HDD on sata and the burner and dvd-rom on pata same ide channel with burner set as master, which was fine before.
after adding the dvd-rom, the only thing i found it to read is a couple video games and a old scoth lens cleaner. it wouldn't even read the software that came with it nor a regular dvd. i don't get it. i checked the bios, tried running the dvd-rom on a seperate dhannel as master, tried downloading drivers from artec, but still the same. the green light goes on for about 30 seconds, not spinning, than asks me to insert disc. i re-inseret and nothing, same thing. fires up games no problem (well 2 or 3 that i tried, a little longer to read than NEC but it read it anyway)
one more thing, i ran bootvis because my boot was terrible after adding the new drive and the trace showed like it was looking for drivers maybe?
any help please?
