Asusboards SIS 655 Forum Seems to Say the Asus P4SDX is Defective and Only the Gigabyte SINXP1394 Works Well

After reading reviews here and at Tomshardware I came to the conclusion that the ASUS P4SDX Deluxe was the best SIS 655 design. However, after looking at the threads at Asusboards I find that almost all the current users of the Asus were having problems related to poor performance or AGP 8X. No one seems to have the "Deluxe" versions reviewed. I am wondering if I should avoid the ASUS and just get the Gig. board. Any Opinions?

I can't think of a single good reason to go with an ASUS P4SDX Deluxe (if you can find it) over the Gigabyte SINXP1394. The Gigabye 8SQ800 (low-end version of the SINXP1394) is also the best low-cost dual channel DDR motherboard on the market.

Purchase either of these two Gigabyte boards if you're going to be using an 800MHz FSB processor. Forget about 875P (Canterwood) boards if you're using a 533MHz FSB CPU.

No, they're not all defective. Mine works just fine, no complaints whatsoever, overclocked mildly.

Perhaps the folks at Asusboards.com's problem is more between the chair and the keyboard, than in their computer :)

The only reason I can't see grabbing one of these boards is the fact they have no AGP/PCI lock, and limited FSB overclocking options. If that's no big deal to you, it's a good, solid board.

That being said for any heavy ocing the sis655 boards are just not up to the snuff of the intel boards like the GB's and i845pe boards....I have thoroughly searched this out and the sis655 chipset will not yield the results you are seeing around these parts with the 2.4 and 2.53 chips...

I love my Sinxp1394. It does everything and anything I need it to, and its hella fast.
