ASUS ZenFone 2 / Zoom

So far I am loving the Zenfone. All I ended up doing was rooting the thing to disable some of the ASUS apps and that's it. I love the way the device looks and feels, and will be ordering a 64GB SD card for it soon.

I actually like the ASUS UI (except for no option for more dock icons.) I'll be playing more with it tonight, but so far I am enjoying it way more than I did with my One Plus (which my wife currently uses.)

Is the battery life really as bad as the anandtech says it is?

It's ok for now, I'm getting about 2 days per charge with normal use ( 4hrs onscreen time, a dozen calls, a few emails and sms). It had a couple of updates that improved the camera (it went from tolerable -> acceptable -> competent) and a host of other bugs. Asus is really stepping up, as another update (2.19) was released today.

You have to realize that it has only been month since they released it in the US. It has had the misfortune of dealing with Lollipop 5.0 but things are looking up, L 5.1 is in beta-testing and should come along soon enough. It is a nice change of pace when you don't have to deal with the carriers.

From what I was reading in reviews I was pretty uneasy before buying the phone. Bad signal, poor battery life, feels cheap etc all which I found to be unfounded. Its a fast phone with my main grievance being camera quality, but I do shoot a dslr with top of the line glass so I like having good pic quality.
 
Yea, the camera is hit and miss. I've gotten some great shots but most are meh. My wife is devasted because she loved the pics my iPhone 5s took. She hates her OnePlus camera and my Zenfone...but she is adamant about her hate for iThings...lol

I may have to get her an S6 soon so she can take decent pics. 🙁
 
seems like a bunch of people have this random restart bug on zf2 that I've also been hit with 4-5 times out of 2 weeks

not sure what's going on
