Asus X99-A 3.1 Shipping BIOS?

I helped a friend setup a machine with this board a few months ago and it needed a bios update to run 16GB sticks. However, I think they update the bios with each manufacturing batch, so yours might not need the update.

Anyone get this board recently? I'd like to know if it ships with a BIOS capable of 'handling' 16gb sticks.. I just bought 128gb (8x16GB) -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233814 and need to know if I should cancel/change my order to also include a cheap 4gb stick.. I got next-day shipping too.. Captain Hindsight is wagging his finger at me.

It's a good idea that have a known good single stick of ram handy anyway... 🙂

I bought this board, and it came with the 1901 BIOS, which is one revision from the latest... I have no idea whether it's capable of handling 16GB DIMMs though.. On my setup, it handled 8GB DIMMs no problem..

That's awesome, thank you so much for answering.

as you can see (by selecting other for system).. 1801 (release prior to 1901) is the bios that supports 16gb modules. So 1901 shipping is perfect. Just curious, where did you buy it from?

Same here.. Can confirm it does indeed ship with 1901 and there are no issues (other than ram being set at 2166@1.2V, but that's hopefully 'fixable') with the full deck of 128gb..

Thanks again sir!

Ugh so why must this board insist on a 127bclk to get the ram running at 2800? I've read a few things regarding this.. but no one really seems to care. I hate this autotuning garbage. Also.. can 5820ks be overclocked while maintaining dynamic voltage? Everyone seems to be running a static voltage..
