I am looking to get an ASUS x800 PCIe card for my new HL2 system (especially now cause of the gold announcement). While I was on the ASUS site, under the PCIe card section I noticed a new link for a PE - Platinum Edition Card. When I went to click on the link it kept saying that the link I was trying to go to did not exist. After three or four times trying I closed IE and brought the page up again to find that the link was no longer there.

Has anyone heard anything about a PE PCIe card for the ASUS x800?

I havent been able to find much on the web yet

There really wouldn't be much to gain in paying more for a PE over an XT card anyway. The speed difference isn't much.

The specs page still doesnt load.
It appears to me that this is all new stuff just coming out.

Should be interesting to see the difference.

The PE has faster core and mem clocks, that's the only difference between XT and XT PE. 520 core and 560/1120 mem.

And now the web address doesn't even load.

Must be testing the page or about to announce the card.

The core/mem speeds are likely going to be the same AGP vs PCI-E. We already know the XT speeds are the same, so why wouldn't the PE speeds be the same?

The PCI-E XT speeds are very unlikely to be higher than the AGP cards since the XT PE is maxed out already, otherwise it would be more than 20Mhz faster than the XT.

Unless you are going to get a board that can do SLI, PCI-E offers no advantage over AGP in speed given the same cards.

X800XT PE PCI-E article

The Inquirer says it will be clocked the same as it's AGP sister. That agrees with all of the reports I have heard since way back.

In order to run that card any faster, they'll need some really good cooling, methinks. :D
