Asus V6V

Hey everyone...I am considering a Asus V6V but it seems that not many vendors carry the lappy. My question is...this is a 2K+ laptop with what seems to be low supply. Has this thing ever been on sale?

I'm not actually the one writing this one, but rest assured it is being finished as fast as possible! I will post on here when its finished!! 😀 Also look for reviews of some other hot shiot like the T43....Acer 8100.....Dell 9300.....and more goodies 😀 😀 😀

$2000 @ Newegg & ZZF

Customizable & starting @ $2000 @ AGear Notebooks

There are a few more resellers as well if you just do a search @ Froogle. If you're waiting on this thing to go on sale, then you'd better look at another notebook, b/c it was just released.

Hi

Not to bust anybody's dreams or anything but i have owned the Asus V6V for a few days before i returned it.
That laptop is seriously not worth it im afraid.

I bought this laptop after having bought a high-end Dell which had some problems.
But i was greatly disapointed to find that the ASUS had some major problems on its own.

First of all - The V6V is a SEXY laptop. It's think and light as hell, but thats where it stops.
The finish isnt very good. The alu is quite nice, but there is a silver plasticframe around the side which from the underside has a very sharp edge and is not rounded or anything. Quite bad on a pricey machine as this one.
Another thing is that the touchpad is sometimes a bit jumpy when you move around on it which is rather annoying.
But there are mainly two things which really annoyed me is that when the laptop is running on battery the screens backlight seems to be flickering a bit which gives the effect that the whole screenimage seems to be flickering slightly - shifting from bright to a bit darker(very little but enough to notice). That is SO annoying and really awfull considering the price. This does disapear though when the powersupply is connected. I thought it might be a problem with the one i got but now i have seen three different machines all having the same problem. This alone is anough for me personally not to buy it(or return it as i did).
The other thing is that for the first hour i had the computer running on battery everything was fine except the things i already mentioned. The fan is though running all the time - this could annoy somebody. Its not loud but can easily be heard.
But as soon as i hooked the computer to the powersupply the fan shifts into high gear and all of the sudden it's quite loud for my taste. It's not loud like loud loud 🙂 But you can VERY easily hear it and it was more than enough for me to return it. And it dosnt stop.

Thats the main problems with this computer i experienced which is just not good enough when you consider the price(and no im not used to buying cheap computers. My laptops normally cost me around 4500$US(converted from the currency in my country) so this was actually the cheapest i ever owned, bu tto many people its expensive).

So my sugestion is to get something else, or at least go to a store to look at it before you buy.

mlykke,

Hi, I'm posting from an Asus V6V right now. Just got it last Thursday. Anyway, I haven't had any of the problems you mention.

You must have gotten a lemon.
