Hello, would anyone here happen to know if Asus' bios update utility (Asus Update) works with Windows Vista (32-bit)? Google doesn't seem to have much answers...only that it doesn't seem to like Vista and Creative drivers together.

I guess I'll give it a shot and let everyone know what happens. Is there a chance that my bios could be corrupted? Or, if the update fails, should everything be fine?

Thanks

edit - oops forgot to ask. I have an asus p5b-e with bios 0405 (something like that). Can I update directly to 1002, or do I have to update first to previous versions? I hope I'm making sense.

Well it worked. I had to install Asus Update version 7.0.9.02. (I think that is the number).

When I used Asus Update, it couldn't connect to asus' ftp site. So I went to the support site and downloaded the 1002 bios.

Next, I unzipped the file with Win-Rar 3.7beta.

Next I ran Asus Update, and pointed it to the BIOS file. I then clicked on "Flash Rom", I believe it was. The update utility did its thing in about a minute. I was prompted to reboot and I did.

The BIOS update reconfigured all the BIOS settings to their default settings, so I had to change a few things.

It was pretty painless. The most annoying part is trying to download anything off of Asus' website.

This was done on a Win Vista 32bit machine. Asus P5B-e motherboard.
