ASUS TUSL2 & Iomega ZIP problem

Good Day,

I need a help on a MotherBoard Drivers question

I have the current system:
PentiumIII 733Mhz
256Mb RAM PC133
Western Digital 20Gb
CD-Rom 36x
Iomega Zip100 Internal IDE
MotherBoard ASUS TUSL2

In this machine I've installed Windows2000 Advanced Server, it went not problem at all, but on Event Viewer Logs, I have info about some parity errors, on on "atapi" and other on "ide" (can't remember 100%, I don't have the print-outs here with me).

The system appears to work ok, except for the Zip drive ... sometimes it recognizes the disks, sometimes it asks me if I want to format it ... but it always reads the zip with the installation software.

I haven't installed any drivers because win2000 recognized the drive, so I downloaded from iomega the Windows2000 detection drivers, but still have no result ... I can read the zip disks from another drive in another computer, but not from this one. I changed the drives, but the problem persists, so it is not the drive itself.


I haven't installed the ASUS TUSL2 windows2000 drivers that came with the board.

My questions are:

[1] Is it safe to install the win2000 drivers of the ASUS board? Wich ones?

[2] What can be the cause of the problem?


PS: I'm a little afraid of installing the ASUS drivers (that's the reason I didn't installed it so far), because some time ago I did the same very thing with another board, and the system stopped working, and then latter I was informed of something like "DO NOT INSTALL THE XXX DRIVERS A WINXX SYSTEM ... blah blah blah" (too late of a warning so now I'm more cautious)

You need to install the Intel Chipset Inf Drivers for Windows 2000 to correctly recognise the i815E chipset on your motherboard.

You may also want to install the Application Accelerator Drivers, which are the IDE drivers for the i8xx series of chipsets. These are optional and you should be aware that these are not always completely trouble free (although this version 2.0 has been relatively good). I recommend installing them on Win2K systems, but not on Win9x systems.

Hi,

Ok, I've installed the "Intel Chipset" detection drivers for i815 on Windows2000. I used the drivers which came with ASUS TUSL2.

The thing is, the ZIP 100 IDE internal drive still doesn't read the disks, and on Event Viewer, under system log, I have 5 entries on each startup with the same ERROR. The description is:

Date: 15-03-2002
Source: Disk
Time: 9:27
Category: None
Type: Error
Event ID: 11
User: N/A
Computer: JF01

Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\DR0.



Anyone as a clue about how to correct this error and to read ZIP disks?
