Asus t100

Just got an ASUS T100. My model has 32gb ssda in the tablet and a 500GB mech drive in the keyboard.

I would like to swap out the 500gb for SSD--does anyone know if this is possible--i don't want to start taking it apart to find the hdd soldered on and unchangeable. Salesman had no idea.

Also the 32gb ssd on the tablet i would also be interested in swapping out.

thanks

I do not see the purpose of changing it to a SSD because the interface between the tablet and keyboard would be a bottleneck. If you still want to, the HDD should be a standard 2.5" size. Look for slim SSDs that are 7mm in height.

The tablet's memory is not interchangeable. Its BGA soldered eMMC.

Thanks==how about for saving on battery? the ssd should use less power--right?

The SSD will consume less power (you gain minutes, not hours of battery) but the gain wouldn't be felt unless you have the tablet docked in all the time. IMO, capacity should be the main priority here when it comes to secondary storage.

Did you notice the spinning of the drive when it is idle?
That should be the case, just like the external drives stop spinning when idle.

I might have made the wrong decision if that's the case. but HDD is basically the only thing I can hear in my desktop (7200RPM though).
64 + 64 is enough. For now, though.
