Not so long ago, I posted a thread explaining how my Creative Labs Geforce 2 GTS died...

Check here

Well, I was wrong ! I received a brand new Geforce 2 from CL, inserted it in my AGP slot and got the same "1 long, 3 shorts" beeps of death...
This means my AGP slot is dead and not my Geforce 2 :(
This also means Creative Labs will soon call to explain me there is nothing wrong with the card I sent them...

The ASUS CUV4X offers bus speeds up to 166 MHz and I never went above 146 MHz, but it was too much... Does Asus really suck or did I simply get a bad motherboard ?

Has anybody ever had problems with his/her AGP slot ?

No, can a company never have any mistakes?

I love my Asus board right now, and all my previous. No trouble like that for me.

Asus is tops in my books.

Like the other Jonny said, I have never had any problems either with any asus boarsd that I have used but companies can make mistakes. Why don't you try RMA'ing the board?

I had an ABIT BH6 running at 100FBS and the CPU slot died, I guess ABIT sucks then.

Just cause a mobo offers a certain bus speed doesnt mean its supported.
I think it was Abit's BE6-2 that offered up to 200 MHz bus speeds, but good luck reaching anywhere near that even with liquid nitrogen cooling.

As soon as you pass the "official" limit of the chipset/cpu/whatever there are no guarantees whatsoever.

I think Asus sucks! I have had 2 Asus boards (P3B-F and K7M) and both were HORRIBLE. I had constant problems with both. I will NEVER buy an Asus again. BTW, neither board was failing.

Mwink, I love your sig.

Maybe someone could tell us what kind of RMA % Asus has. I think most would say that Asus has good quality products, but all manufacturers are bound to have some lemons.

I really do like your sig Mwink.

Osage, Asus has one of the lowest RMA % in the industry.
Someone, dont remember who it was, stated in between 1 and 0.5 %.

At my old work, we built comps using Asus mobos only, and thought I dont know any exact numbers, I will agree out of experience, the number is very low.

Uh I'm thinking that ASUS has the lowest rma percent because they dont even rma anything? Tell me who here rma'd something to them. I've triend all their numbers, all their e-mails, and I get no support, nothing. I've posted a post here about asus rma's and they said its horrible. I'm pretty sure thats why they have a low rma. LOL

Well, my experience differs, but OTOH we were a loyal Asus reseller, so I guess that gave us somewhat higher priority, but when we sent stuff out, we generally got replacements within the week.

Why do you send it to Asus anyway?
Just get a replacement at the place where you bought it, and let them deal with Asus.
Of course Asus isnt gonna care too much about 1 single guy with a broken mobo, but they are gonna care about a store that sells alot of their mobos, thats the way business works.

I think you're a bit negative here. First CL sucks even though it wasn't the vid-card then you come back referring to that last thread of yours and now saying Asus sucks.

First off all how about you wait a bit before you say what sucks and what doesn't suck, 'cause it seems like you really don't know :|. Do you realize how many batches they throw out of the door everyday???. Take a break before bashing some really good companies.

Seriously, I agree w/ Ryan... so far I've had 2 out of 2 asus boards die or manfunction on me and both times I have not been able to contact them. Their technical support is non-existent and I hear that those who DO happen to get a hold of them for RMA don't get their boards back until about 3 weeks

AngelOfDeath : I did not say "Creative Labs sucks", I was just surprised my GTS died... while it did not ! OK, I admit I was wrong, I did not know an AGP slot could die, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa... I named this second thread "ASUS sucks ???" simply because I knew that with such a subject, a lot of people would read it ;)
I don't think Asus sucks... Not yet...

Ryan & Madcowz you are frightening me ! I hope I'll get a new one, or my next post might be ASUS sucks !!! instead of ASUS sucks ??? ;)

Can someone please answer my question why people RMA their stuff to Asus(or whatever manufacturer) directly instead of to the place where you bought it?

Lets say Asus sells a million mobos in a month, and lets say they have a RMA rate of 1%, thats 10.000 RMA's every month, now if a store sends in 100 RMA's in one big pack, of course thats gonna be alot faster than 10000 people sending 10000 packs with 10000 mobos, and 10000 different addresses to ship the new mobo to.
Have the store do that for you, it makes life easier for you, and for Asus, Abit, or whoever you bought it from.

The store where I bought it told me it would be much faster if I did it myself... Maybe they simply don't want to waste time doing it themselves :(

Sunner, I would imagine to answer your question, most outlets you buy your Asus parts from don't have the resources or the patience to help. Example, if one of my WD drives goes down, I certainly would NOT send it back to Buy comp looking for help.

Okey 3615buck :).

<< Maybe they simply don't want to waste time doing it themselves >>

Yes that sounds more likely.

Sunner, I thought someone here would have the RMA numbers, and just as I suspected Asus is very low. I use an Asus mobo and I really like it. I was just trying to get someone to put up the numbers.
Every maker will have a few bad ones. Some more than others.
Many say Abit is suck, well maybe they are, they have a higher RMA rate, but the only Abit I have used worked great, the dreaded BE6 2 w/HP366 controller.
I think too many people are over generalizing an entire product line because of one bad experence. Just because a product won't run perfectly when used out of spec dosn't make it a bad product, it certainly doesn't make the company Suck.
