Well you have a nice power supply, so I don't question the power. I would probably think its the RAM. Is it on A1 and B1?

Well I had memory in A1 and A2 and switched it to A1 and B1 with same results, no boot. Which is it suppose to be A1 and A2 or A1 and B1 Dont know how it could be the ram, they are 2 sticks of ram from my old computer

I've tried unplugging everything and got it to go to Bios once. But now it still wont boot, no beep or anything. I've placed one stick into b1 and still doesnt work. Its frustrating cuz I dont know what it could b e out of the new processor, mb or psu.

i had problem of not booting up because i had memory sticks in A1 and A2 (blue and black) and i had beeping sound every 3-4 seconds (i think)
then i decided to read users guide and found out that "When using two DDR DIMM modules, install into DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1 slots only"
it solved my problem
other than that everything went smoothly

I had the exact same BIOS error beep-code when I installed one DIMM in A1 and no other slots were used. Asus Manual says this means bad CPU. It actually means no/bad RAM. Soyo TechAID card reported it as a dead cpu/psu/mobo. Such a crappy BIOS that even Asus/Award don't know what its trying to say. Moving the RAM to B1 solved the problem for me (although I then got the 1 long, 3 short beep code meaning video death, while using a 6800U PCIe, and I almost puked on the motherboard...)

I recommend trying a different brand of RAM (regardless of speed, although 400MHz would be ideal). Have you cleared the CMOS since the beep-codes started?

I bet it is your EZ selecter card. It is either not seated properly or it is connected the wrong way. Try taking it out and booting.

I has same problem, auto detect fro ram doesnt work properly, put one stick in b1, then go into bios and take auto off of ram settings, I had to set to 500 for my 466 ram. It now works fine for me although I understand your frustration, took me 3 days to figure it out, I had to borrow a stick of 3200 for the b1 slot to get to bios, then returned ram and now use my 3700 sticks. Hope it helps

I dont even get beeps, nothing but fans turning. I have 1 3200 stick of corsair in B1 right now. Havent messed with EZ card selector, guess I'll try that. Ruled out psu, tried my old working one and still no boot. I get a green light on my moniter which indicates there is some kind of activity. Took out my cpu and redid everything again this morning. I'm about ready to rma this thing.

I took the sli card out tried to boot and got nothing. It appears that it was in right and selected to single video card.

Yes, listen to smc13, if you accidentily pushed or pulled the card it may not be seated correctly and will not allow the compter to boot. I had mine pushed in too far one time and was going through all sorts of troubleshooting steps, much like yourself, and finally took the EZ card out and gently pushed it in until it clicks. Booted up fine after that.

You may also want make sure that all the power connectors are, well, connected. This includes the molex connector by the PCIe video card slots, the 4-pin auxillary power connector near the CPU, and the 6-pin power connector going to your 6800GT.

And when you redid your CPU, did you carefully seat it and apply some kind of thermal paste (i.e. Artic Silver 5)?

Arctic silver 5 yes. I took the ez card all the way out and reseated it, nothing. I tried plugginng power to the 4 pin molex near pci-e cards even though it is only recommended for dual card use but it still wouldnt boot.

Yeaa 4 pin atx is plugged into mb and 6 pin to video card. May have bad DVI on my new video card, I tried the other DVI, which I tried before I think lol, and it booted to Bios. May be that one of my duel DVI's are bad. Now it says Warning no cpu fan detected but it is hooked up and running is this common? I'll start plugging things in now see what happens.

When I add my second stick of memory into a1 slot, it wont boot. I read about this before and you have to change something in Bios but cant recall. Can someone advise? Thanks

As far as the DVIs go, I don't think that one of them is bad, there are two ports a primary and a secondary and I think (correct me if I am wrong) that the startup sequence will only output to the primary. Once you have your system up and running I would try the port again, it probably isn't broken. I have the same problem with the CPU fan from time to time, if I restart it seems to go away. I am not sure about the memory thing as I have all four dimms installed, but I recall there being a few pages in the manual detailing which slots to stick the memory sticks in.

Try this:
1. Remove the VGA card and EZ selector card.
2. Clear CMOS.
3. Re-install EZ selector card.
4. Re-install VGA card.

It worked with my A8N Deluxe.

I had a similar problem with the fans going and no beeps, but no post. Make sure all three power connections are in (The 24pin, 4pin ATX 12V and the 4pin EZ_PLUG). In the user manual look at page 2-25.
