Anyone with a working setup. please post what setting u have used both in the BIOS and Windows xp Pro.

Did you set up SLI in the bios? I've only played with mine for an hour or so last night, but I remember seeing an entry for SLI there.

I just followed exactly what it said to do in the back of the manual. Section 6 "Nvidia SLI support"

I have it set to "Auto" SLI in the BIOS, and "enable multi-gpu" in the nvidia control panel is checked.

I have to ask, just in case...... Did you plug a 4-pin molex into the "EZ-PLUG" slot? Did you check how well seated the SLI connector is? Are you using a 24pin EATX power supply?

works like a charm.

I'm assuming that you did a fresh install of windows xp. I also assume that you installed the nforce drivers first. Also, I assume that SLI is set to "auto" in bios, and that you have installed 2 sli video cards w/ the bridge and have the sli card inserted for dual cards.

If all that is true, then you need to install forceware 66.93. After you install this, and restart computer, a ballon pop up should show in your sys tray indicating that you have an sli capable system. Click on the balloon and another window comes up. Choose "enable SLI multi gpu".

Or you can go to the properties of you video card, and there should be a selection for sli multi gpu, make sure that you have a check mark to enable it.

Do you mind if I ask where you got those Gainward 6600GT's? I've emailed Gainward USA several times (without a reply) about where to find them.

Maybe thats because they are running at 8X...the 16X lane is divided in two 8x lanes when working in sli mode :p

I have done everything that you all have said and the only thing that i don't have is the "enable multi-gpu" in the nvidia control panel. All the drivers that i have tested, don't show "enable multi-gpu".

im using a 20pin to 24pin adapter for the power supply and have a 4-pin molex pluged into the "EZ-Plug" slot. there is no red light so they are getting enough power.

You might need to gut your drivers completely. Do a search for Nvidia driver cleaner or something like that. There is a utility that removes the remnants of Nvidia drivers after you have uninstalled them.

same cards / board & had the same problem.

I have a horrible feeling they just dont work in SLi mode, I RMA'd mine & got two MSI 6800GTs instead - plugged them in and the Sli option was immediately available. (incidentally, they dont work properly, but that's another thread).

Mailed gainward a few times, their support mostly consisted of 'try new drivers'

I spent a good day dicking around with the cards, PC and had no success - you may have better luck, - I hope so :-/

I don't have the Gainward card, but I had similar trouble with XFX card thats on ASUS's certified list.
I was running in single card mode with one 6600gt, when I installed the second card I couldn't get the enable multi GPU check box to show up no matter what I would do. As a last resort I cleared CMOS, and bingo! when windows loaded, the message came up in the system tray that I had an SLI capable setup. Now the checkbox was there and everything went smoothly from there on.

Out of curiosity How is your PSU coping with the load? (well I guess you really can't tell for sure because the 2nd 6600GT card isn't doing anything....)

I was going to ask the same thing about your psu DarkAngel, the Thermaltake Silent PurePower Series - TWV480 Total Watts Viewer 480watts doesn't really have enough power to drive this system. But as long as you haven't had any brownouts, bsods, etc...might as well go with it. ;)
