I wouldn't buy an ASUS cooler, but it may be sufficient. The Zalman CNPS10X is the best value air cooler, IMO, for the core 2 quads. It's around $40.

TEMPS,

What is your idle temp and your full load temp ?

TJmax is 100c.

Most apps will show you the wrong temp . So you must do offset in that app be it speedfan or core temp. -15 offset ,, so if your 70 at load I believe its 55. This all matters on mobo.. Dont get a HSF unless you first tell us your system specs and what overclock do you have and voltage for CPU ???

Change things to stock and see what happens.. gl

OP, ASUS coolers aren't BAD, but they aren't great either. The ones I've seen have been high on bling, and mediocre on performance. X-Bit Labs has reviewed some ASUS coolers over the last few years. The Silent Knight II was found to be average, with interesting looks and a lot of audible noise. ASUS aftermarket cases are likely designed by the same guy - they're hilarious. That all being said, I generally like ASUS.

A card has a max OC , some diff then others. Doesn't matter what HSF you have on it or your voltage. You have to figure out your OC max ,, might take few days or soo.. thx

tweakboy better stop tweaking, he's about to go off the deep end.

the CM hyper 212+ is pretty good low priced cooler that can be had for around $30 - $35.

Hello guys,
one question: the CM Hyper 212 + has 6mm diameter heat pipes but people are saying that 8mm diameter heat pipes can transfer ~75% more heat, so is this ture ??, if so why are people buying this ??, is it still great at 6mm heat pipes ??, is there any 8mm diameter heat pipes CPU cooler available ??

thank you,

Who are these people ?

I can assure you there are no air coolers that are 75% better than the 212+ .... I doubt there are any that are even 20% better ...

I think the best bang/buck coolers are either Hyper 212+ (20 or so) and Mugen 2 cooler for 40 shipped at newegg. If you only buying one, the Mugen 2 is pretty much a super cooler performance for little money.

Hello guys,
I don't overclock, and got the Cooler Master Hyper 212+ today .
but in speedfan cpu fan rpm is not showing but in MB it is showing.

and i didn't much of temp drop, i just saw a ~15% difference from the intel stock fan.

the cpu load temp went from 68 C to 55 C
the Cpu idle speed went from 50 C to 45 C

have i installed the CPU Cooler wrong ??

thank you,
suren
