I'm installing Asus ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI . The power supply is Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 850W.

There is are two power connections on top left of the mainboard. one 4 pin and one 8 pin.
The power supply has only one cable that is suitable for this. and it has two 8 pin ends. Motherboards manual isn't very clean. is the 4 pin power connector optional?
Shall only connect the 8 pin one?

According to the manual there should be 2 4+4 pin ATX connectors. See image below. CPU connectors are typically 4+4. You should be able to split one of the 8 pin connectors in half to use in the 4 pin motherboard spot.

Yes thank you.
I haven't build a computer for sometimes. I'm a bit out of the loop. It wasn't obvious and some how according to the manuel that second 4 pin power connection is optional.

Yes, it is optional. If you're PSU didn't have the second plug I would say don't worry about it. But since you have it I would install it. It's just supplemental power for the CPU. Only the top AMD CPUs probably need it. I used 2 8 pin with my B650 board and 7700 non-x.
