Asus ROG laptops

Well, since my Lenovo y50 got stolen, I'm in the market for a new gaming laptop. I'd been looking at Lenovo's newer models (y50 v2, y700, y70) but they only seem to come with the 960m. Same with pretty much every other Ultrabook-style laptop, which is my favorite form factor. My Y50 was just about perfect, except the 860M was lacking in muscle for newer games. I've read the 960m is not much better.

So I'm looking at the 970M exclusively. I found an Asus ROG 17" G751JT laptop for about $1400, which is what I paid for my Y50 so so what I think my insurance will give me to buy a new laptop. The only issue with the G75 is no touchscreen. I like touchscreens, and I'm constantly frustrated by this ancient Gateway I'm using. I will probably adapt just fine, though.

Now, my question is, how is the Asus ROG line? It seems to get good reviews all around, and of course all the specs are there (i7 Quad, 16gb ram, GTX970M, 256gb SSD), but are there better options for the price?

Feel free to throw out ideas, options, thoughts, comments. Thanks!

Edit: Wow, didn't realize the G751JT is 8lb. That's heavier than my old 17" Dell Studio and twice as heavy as my Y50 was! Maybe I'll just buy another Y50 and live with the 960M.

What's the concensus on Gigabyte laptops? I see Newegg has a P55 model for about $1000, but it only had 8gb ram and a spinner instead of the SSD.
