No thanks. I like my hot air out of the case. Why they chose to use that cooler is beyond me. Looks just like their 'SLI on one card' cooler. 25Mhz overclocked on both core and memory isnt bad, but not great. But any factory warranted overclock is good.

Nothing special but an indicator of whats to come?

LOL if the 25Mhz OC is "what's to come", I'm sure nVidia is sleeping soundly.

They should just make video cards external. I'd run a cable from my PC to my video card chilling in the fridge.

By the looks of that 20# hsf, the vast OCing potential of the X1800XT is readily apparent!

Thats pretty ignorant thinking. Just because Asus doesnt overclock it a lot, doesnt mean it cant. My BFG is only 30Mhz above the stock core, but I clocked it up another 30Mhz.

Well I HAVE to admit, when it only takes a 20# monster hsf like that to get it stable at 25MHz over, with window airconditioners they may see 30MHz!

5150, where is teh link! LOL

Rollo I'm sure this new cooler has more fuctions than just increased cooling capacity. Perhaps it is quieter, or maybe it leaves the user more room to overclock.

For example, my 6600 GT stock cooler was very small and weak, so I replaced it with a Zalman VF700 and was able to overclock much higher. Asus's new HS might allow high overclocking without having to purchase a 3rd party heatsink.

WHat the hell, is Asus supplying crazy amount of power to this card? Why the external power supply

AT needs to get one of these and see how much these overclock. The external PSU and the huge cooler makes me think it is designed to overclock even though they only overclocked it 25Mhz(this might be due to Ati's policy?)

External power........

Hmmm I guess you don't need a PSU upgrade.

Not a bad idea.

External power is a great idea for a "SLI on a board" multi gpu solution.

For a 16 pipe X1800XT that is supposedly "low power consumption" it's just strange, costly, and pointless.

Who buys $600 video cards that has a crappy psu?

I think this thing is hot and over-volted, and the DVD drive slows down when a game kicks in and Tsunami3 spins up if you don't have it plugged into the wall. LOL

It's just you. I tell the truth about video cards as I see it in every thread.

Lol, from you guys' avatars it looks like two old men arguing.

That is a pretty weak oc for having a new hsf and onboard psu. Hopefully it will help overall overclockability.

Yah I think im gunna change my avatar, I don't mind 2 slot coolers anyway if I do get an xl in the next 2 weeks or so (hopefully,$$$) i'd be getting an artic silencer or maybe an zalman vf700... better oc's and less db's

Gee Ackmed, others seem to agree with me that external power and the 20# HSF for 25 lousy MHz is pretty bad.

Are Goregrinder, Elfear, and XCobra trolling too? Or just me because you stated you don't like me and want me gone?

The FACT of the matter is that humongous HSF and an external psu are a joke to get a 3% OC.

It's one thing if they went to those wacky extremes to enable further OCing. It's quite another if they HAD to do that to OC 25MHz.

BTW Ackmed, as much as you love these cards, I'm sort of shocked you don't own one? If I loved the X1800XT as much as you, you can bet one would be in my box?

Or do you just support ATI with posts, not your money? I think what is in a person's box is a pretty good indication of what they recommend? ;)
