I've been thinking about making a couple minor tweaks to my system, namely hooking up all 3 case fans to the mobo headers and letting ASUS Q-fan take over...

my rig produces a nice constant amount of subtle white noise which would be a bit nicer if it were a little quieter.

Who uses ASUS Q-Fan feature? Is it safe? worthwhile? Much quieter than hooking up fans directly to the 12V power supply?

It's a good thing since you can control in some way the rpm of the case fans. I have my Asus M2N-E fan profile set on silent, and guess what, the system is silent. I don't see any reason not to use it.

Hmm, have you tried installing it allready ? I can't find any Vista 64x software for my old s939 asus mobo. a8n5x to be precise. I've got antec tricools, all on low, so it's not a really a problem for me.

I have Q-Fan enabled in the BIOS, but I haven't installed any additional utilities that would permit configuration from within Windows. It seems to do it's job.
